Of the Night: Chapter One - Fanfiction Friday

This is a small regular that I'm hoping to introduce so that I can archive my fanfiction's here, as well as on I'm going to start with a set of drabble's, a drabble being a short story of 100 words exactly, no more, no less. A drabble also therefore is more accessible to a reader less familiar with the particular fandom that the writing resides in. It focuses more on emotions of the character, and getting the reader to empathise with the characters.

This story is called Of the Night, and can be read fully here. Each chapter is unrelated, and this story is continually growing. It is a Star Trek: Voyager story, and explores small moments that I believe could have occurred between Captain Kathryn Janeway and her First Officer, Commander Chakotay, if the show had decided to explore their relationship, rather than ignoring it as they did. They all take place either at night or in the early hours of waking. Enjoy

Chakotay's quarters were quiet and still in the night. The dim shine from the stars that sped past the porthole provided the only light, glancing off of his blankets, which rose and fell in time with sleep laden breathing.

The whole room shuddered as Voyager was hit hard and they fell out of warp. The movement was sudden; a frantic mixture of tangled limbs and covers as they jolted awake. He heard the chirp of the comm badge in his ear as his arms found their way around the one thing that mattered most to him.

"Janeway to Bridge; report."
